Who we are
Ascend AI Technologies Inc. (“Ascend AI”, “we”) operates this platform, which generates AI-assisted land-development feasibility reports for properties in British Columbia. Access is currently limited to invited beta reviewers. This notice explains what personal information we collect during the beta, why, and the rights you have under BC’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
Privacy officer
For any privacy question, request, or complaint, contact our designated Privacy Officer, Ascend AI Technologies Inc., at info@ascendai-tech.com.

What we collect
- Account information: your name and email address. Your name comes from your billing details when you make a purchase, and you can change it at any time in Settings. Your name is visible to other members of your organization.
- Agreement records — when you accept the reviewer agreement on first login we record the legal name you type, your email, the document version and checksum, the date and time, and your IP address, as evidence of acceptance.
- Usage content — the addresses and parcels you look up, the reports generated for you, your questions in the report and bylaw chats, and your credit balance and usage.
- Technical basics — authentication cookies needed to keep you signed in, anonymous product-analytics events (which pages and features are used), and error reports when something breaks. The Service providers section below names each provider, what it receives, and the identifier our analytics stores in your browser. We do not run advertising trackers.
Why we collect it
To provide and secure the service, to evidence contract acceptance, to grant and meter beta credits, to communicate with you about the beta, and to improve the product. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Service providers
We use a small set of service providers (processors) to run the platform. Each one receives only what its job requires. The list below names every provider, what it receives, why, and where it stores the data.

Receives: Account information (name, email); Agreement-acceptance records; Usage content (parcels, reports, chats, credits); Authentication data. Runs on our servers. - Vercel (Vercel Inc.): Hosts the application and serves it to your browser. Receives: Request logs, including IP addresses; Technical request metadata. Runs on our servers. Data location: United States (global edge network). Privacy policy.

- Voyage AI (Voyage AI (MongoDB, Inc.)): Turns bylaw text and your questions into search vectors for bylaw search. - PostHog (PostHog, Inc.): Product analytics: which pages and features are used, so we can improve the product. Autocapture and session recording are switched off. - Sentry (Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry)): Error monitoring: records application errors so we can find and fix defects. Error tracking only: performance tracing and session replay are switched off. Who at Ascend can see your information
Ascend staff may access your account and its contents to provide support, investigate issues, and meet our legal obligations. Every such access is recorded, including who accessed it, when, and what they accessed, and that access record is itself visible to other Ascend staff, not only to the person who accessed it. Ascend’s staff include people who also work in land development in British Columbia, which may include markets you operate in. If you have concerns about staff access to your information, contact our privacy officer.
Where your information is stored
Our main database is hosted in Canada. Most of our other service providers store and process information outside Canada, primarily in the United States; each provider’s data location is listed in the Service providers section above. Information held outside Canada is subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. Contact our privacy officer for questions about how your information is handled by our providers.
Retention
We keep account and usage information while your beta account is active and for a reasonable period afterward. Agreement-acceptance records are retained as evidence of the contract. On request we will delete information that we are not required to keep for legal or contractual purposes.
Your rights
Under PIPA you may request access to, or correction of, your personal information — email our privacy officer and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
Security and incidents
We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect personal information. If a security incident materially affects your information, we will investigate, contain it, and notify you without undue delay.
Changes
We may update this notice as the beta evolves; material changes will be flagged in the app. This beta notice will be replaced by a full privacy policy before public launch.
